No subscription required. No application for access privileges. Appellate court opinions are public record. The Texas Judiciary makes them available on the court websites, but not in a search-engine friendly fashion. Nor do the appeals courts' web sites offer user-friendly search facilities. The idea here is to test the utility of blog technology to facilitate case law research within one appellate jurisdiction (Third District-Austin Court of Appeals), and to allow searches not only by case type and legal issues, by also by other search criteria, such as opinion author and nature of disposition.
The trial run will only include opinions in civil cases, starting with June 1, 2007. The full text of the opinions will be posted without substantive alteration.
